Ideas often die for the wrong reasons — either from the idea-bearer's own self-doubt or from lack of support. Inspired by lean startup methodology, I designed and managed an open and agile incubator process at Science Park Gotland aimed at giving every idea a fair chance. The process focuses on honestly and curiously 'killing' ideas by testing their weakest assumptions first — like biting into the sourest apples in the basket — so that only ideas validated by reality survive. The goal was to make the lean startup mindset accessible to everyday people, not just seasoned entrepreneurs.
A structured incubator program built around self-compassion, creative confidence, and a 'just do it' mentality. The process guides participants through identifying their riskiest assumptions, testing them rapidly, and pivoting based on real-world insights. By fostering a safe space for failure and learning, the program helped first-phase startups move from zero to validated concepts.
